How to set up
PlayWithMotion works on any computer with a webcam. Get set up in a minute — here’s the ideal way to position your screen, your camera, your ball and your space.
1 On a laptop
Open the game, allow camera access, and step back 4–6 feet so the webcam can see you from your head to your knees. That’s it — you’re ready to play.
2 iPad or laptop → TV
Want the big screen? Connect your iPad or laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable or AirPlay/screen-mirroring. Keep the device’s camera facing you — it still does the tracking while you watch on the TV.
3 Pick your ball
Some games track a colored ball as your controller. Use one bright, solid-color ball — orange, yellow, pink and blue track best. Avoid white, black, and dull colors that blend into the room.
4 Clear your space
Give yourself room to move. Clear about 6 feet around you of furniture, pets and obstacles, and play somewhere with good, even lighting so the camera can see you clearly.
Quick tips for the best tracking
- Face a window or light — avoid having a bright light directly behind you.
- Wear clothing that contrasts with your background.
- For ball games, keep just one bright ball in view — hide other matching-colored objects.
- If tracking drifts, step back a little so your whole body is in frame.
- Works in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox — no app or download needed.
